Connecting to Tableau
You can use Tableau to connect to the MemSQL cloud to explore your data. Before you start, gather the following information:
- Hostname - The name of the MemSQL cloud server that hosts the database you want to connect to, labeled as “DDL Endpoint - Database and Schema Management” in the MemSQL cloud console.
- Username - The username you’ll be using
- Password - The password for this username
Configure Security Groups
In addition, make sure that the IP address of your client computer has been granted access to the MemSQL Cloud cluster you wish to connect to. This can be done using the MemSQL Cloud Security Group Management tool. For more information, please see Managing Security Groups.
Download SSL Certificate
You will also need to download the SSL certificate file, which can be found here. Save the full path name of the file so you can use it later when you connect to Tableau.
Connect to Tableau
You can connect to MemSQL from Tableau using the MemSQL example in the Tableau Documentation. Check the Require SSL box and use the certificate you downloaded.
